Staff Selection Commission, Junior Engineer (SSC JE) exam is conducted every year by the Staff Selection Commission to recruit Junior Engineers in various Government Departments. SSC JE exam is conducted to recruit engineers in different streams such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, and Contracts. This article gives brief information about the SSC JE Examination and the SSC Admit Card.

On October 1st, 2020, the SSC JE Exam 2020 recruitment notification was announced. SSC JE 2020 Paper I exam was held from 22nd March 2021 to 25th March 2021. The SSC JE exam notification will provide all the details pertaining to cut-offs, admit cards, exam dates, vacancy, exam pattern, eligibility, etc. The SSC JE Paper-II 2019 results were announced on 23rd November 2021. Interested candidates who wish to take the SSC JE 2020-21 exam are required to visit the official website of SSC to apply online for the competitive exam. According to the 7th Central Pay Commission, the SSC JE salary for the Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted) post in Level- 6 is Rs 35,400 – Rs 1,12,400/-.

Through the SSC Junior Engineer 2020 exam, candidates are recruited into various Government organizations such as National Technical Research Organization (NTRO), Directorate of Quality Assurance (Naval), Central Water and Power Research Station, Border Roads Organization (BRO), Farakka Barrage Project, Military Engineer Services (MES), Central Public Works Department (CPWD), and Central Water Commission (CWC).

The subjects covered in the SSC JE – Staff Selection Commission Junior Engineering Preliminary examination are General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, General Engineering – Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. General Awareness will test knowledge of current events, questions relating to India and its neighboring countries, especially pertaining to Economic Scene, Scientific Research, Geography, History, Culture, General Polity, etc. General Intelligence will cover both verbal and non-verbal type questions. The other subjects covered are Arithmetical computations, similarities, problem-solving,  space visualization, decision making, visual memory, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical reasoning, etc.

In the SSC JE Preliminary examination, some of the topics covered in Mechanical Engineering are Properties & Classification of Fluids, Measurement of Fluid Pressure, Classification of steel,  Dynamics of Ideal fluids, IC Engine Cooling & Lubrication, properties of Pure Substances, Laws of Thermodynamics, Principle of Refrigeration Plant, Measurement of Flow rate, etc. The subjects covered in the Electrical Engineering paper are topics such as Basic Electronics, Electrical Machines, AC Fundamentals, Circuit law, Transmission and Distribution, Fractional Kilowatt Motors, single-phase induction Motors, Measurement and Measuring instruments, Circuit law, Magnetic Circuit, Utilization, Electrical Energy, etc.

The SSC Admit Card will have to be downloaded by the candidates from the official websites. Apart from the JE examination SSC conducts many other examinations, and for all the examinations, the SSC Admit Card should be downloaded from the official website. The SSC Admit card is issued online for examinations such as SSC Stenographer, SSC MTS, SSC CHSL, SSC CGL, SSC CPO, SSC JE, SSC GD.

Candidates must note that the Staff Selection Commission releases the SSC Exam admit card region-wise. The SSC Admit Card for North Western Region covers the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. The SSC Admit Card for Western Region covers the states of Maharashtra, Goa, and Gujarat. The SSC Admit Card for Central Region covers the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The SSC Admit Card for Eastern Region covers the states of West Bengal, Orissa, Sikkim, Andaman & Nicobar Island. The SSC Admit Card for the North Eastern Region covers the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, and Nagaland. The SSC Admit Card for Southern Region covers the states of Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu. The SSC Admit Card for Karnataka Kerala Region covers the states of Kerala and Karnataka. The SSC Admit Card for Northern Region covers Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand. The SSC Admit Card for Madhya Pradesh Region covers the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
